Governor asks Liquor Control to Pass Emergency Rule Preventing Alcohol Sales at Bars and Restaurants after 10 PM

This afternoon, Governor DeWine announced that he has asked the Ohio Liquor Control Commission to implement an emergency rule prohibiting the sale of alcohol for on-premises consumption at bars and restaurants beginning at 10:00 pm. The Governor reiterated this request is part of an effort to stem the tide in recent COVID-19 cases. Should the proposal achieve passage at tomorrow morning’s emergency meeting of the Commission, the Governor will sign an executive order making it effective tomorrow night.

Alcohol purchased prior to 10:00 pm could still be consumed on-premises until 11:00 pm. Beer, wine, and liquor for carry-out/off-premises consumption may continue to be sold after 10:00 pm. Board of Pharmacy Rescinds Emergency Rule Banning Hydroxychloroquine

Heeding Governor DeWine’s request, the Ohio Board of Pharmacy reversed yesterday’s decision to prohibit the dispensing of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine for treating COVID-19. The Governor stated he hopes the Board will work with other health care experts to study and examine the issue further before making any additional edicts.
