As you may be aware, the deadline for submitting comments to the U.S. Department of Labor’s proposed changes to the overtime exemptions for executive, administrative and professional employees is today, Friday, September 4, 2015. OCRM signed on to comments submitted by the Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunities and also submitted independent comments specific to Ohio’s retail community.
Our primary opposition relates to:
-The unprecedented and significant increase in the minimum salary requirement and automatic annual increase
-The short time frame for compliance
-The proposed changes to the job “duties test” that would force workers in and out of their traditional roles
We will continue to work with our partners on the national level to ease the negative impact of the proposal on our members.
