Retail Merchants Applaud House Finance Committee E-Fairness Vote; Will Balance Retail Playing Field and Reduce Income Tax
(Columbus, April 16, 2013) The Ohio Council of Retail Merchants, representing more than 4,400 companies across Ohio, welcomed new language approved by the House Finance and Appropriations Committee advancing E-Fairness in Ohio.
“We applaud the hard work of the House Finance & Appropriations Committee to pass legislation that would level the playing field for retailers as well as lower the tax burden on Ohioans,” said Gordon Gough, Ohio Council of Retail Merchants Executive Vice President. “Ohio’s retailers are optimistic that the provision will receive the backing of the full House and that Ohio Senate leaders will show the same support.
“E-Fairness continues to be a top issue for our members,” said Gough. “We applaud the Ohio House for taking this important step to help Ohio’s retail economy and help Ohio taxpayers.”
Founded in 1922, the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants is Ohio’s leading trade association for the retail industry, with more than 4,400 members statewide that serve millions of Ohioans daily.
