The Ohio Association of McDonald’s Operators (OAMO) is comprised of McDonald’s owner/operators with restaurants in Ohio, as well as the operators of the corporately-held restaurants. The OAMA was the first operators association in the country, being formed in 1960. The organization’s focus is monitoring and impacting legislative and regulatory activity at the state level. While many individual operators are politically active in their respective areas of Ohio, the OAMO sponsors its own political action committee (PAC). Operators contribute to the PAC so that state candidate contributions can be made on a collective basis. In an effort to better communicate with state legislators about their businesses, the OAMO sponsored “Super Thursday,” in 2010. This was a designated day in April when legislators visited local McDonald’s restaurants Ohio, and received a behind-the-scenes view of how these businesses benefit our state. The event was so successful that it was adopted by the Michgan’s operators association the following year.
